Day 1 - Arrival in Mexico City
Arrive at Mexico City International Airport, where you will be greeted and transferred to Hotel Barceló Reforma. Check in and relax at your hotel. Overnight stay in Mexico City.
Day 2 - Mexico City – Día de Muertos Experience
Begin the day with a visit to the Centro Histórico, exploring the Metropolitan Cathedral, a masterpiece of colonial architecture, and the ancient Templo Mayor. Stroll along the historic streets that featured in the James Bond film Spectre, before arriving at the Zócalo, adorned with colorful altares de muertos that inspired Disney’s Coco. Return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, professional make-up artists will transform you with Día de Muertos face paint—complete with a flower crown for women and a sombrero for men. A removal kit is also included. Later, enjoy free time to experience the lively Día de Muertos parade (subject to confirmation by local authorities). In the evening, savor dinner at Villa María restaurant accompanied by a live mariachi performance. Transfer back to the hotel for overnight accommodation. (BLD)
Day 3 - Coyoacán & Xochimilco – Día de Muertos Atmosphere
Head south to the charming neighborhood of Coyoacán. Discover the vibrant local market brimming with colors and flavors, then explore Plaza Hidalgo, the Parroquia de San Juan, and the Jardín Centenario with its famous Fuente de los Coyotes. Continue to Xochimilco for a traditional trajinera boat ride along the ancient canals, once home to the Toltecs after the fall of Tula. Enjoy lunch on board while admiring the floating gardens. During this festive season, both Coyoacán and Xochimilco will be beautifully decorated to celebrate Día de Muertos. (BL)
Day 4 - Teotihuacan & Basilica de Guadalupe
Embark on a full-day excursion to Teotihuacan. En route, stop at the Basilica de Guadalupe, the most important pilgrimage site in Latin America. Continue to Teotihuacan, the legendary “Place of the Gods,” and marvel at its grand monuments: the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, the Avenue of the Dead, the Temple of the Butterflies, the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, and the Citadel. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to the hotel. (BL)
Day 5 - Departure from Mexico City
