Vienna
Vienna is the second-largest German-speaking city after Berlin. It has ranked number one for most liveable cities more often than any other city. The Habsburg dynasty chose Vienna as their residence in 1440. Wien in German, the city offers elegance and architecture on a grand scale. St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Vienna State Opera, Hofburg Palace, Schonbrunn Palace, the Vienna Musikverein, the Hundertwasserhaus to name just a view. Do not miss the Prater, the Spanish Riding School and the Naschmarkt. And tasting Vienna’s cuisine and coffee house culture is a must.
Salzburg
Salzburg's entire historic Oldtown is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its Baroque architecture. This fourth largest Austrian city is a must to visit. Take a tour of the Castle above the city. Within the old town is the Getreidegasse with Mozart’s birthplace, View Salzburg Cathedral and Mirabell Palace. And Schloss Heilbrunn with its delightful trick fountains is a must.
Innsbruck
Innsbruck is the capital city of Tyrol, Austria’s beautiful alpine province. Located on the river Inn, it provides access to the Brenner Pass, the fastest and only trans-alpine Autobahn connection to Italy. View the Imperial Hofburg, oldtown, the Helblinghaus and the Golden Roof, the Hofkirche containing the Emperor Maximilian I cenotaph and the black men. The Tyrolean Folk Art Museum is close by. Another popular visit is the Ambras Renaissance Castle.
Bregenz
Bregenz lies at the western end of Austria at Lake Constance, one of Europe’s largest freshwater lakes. It is famous for the annual summer music festival Bregenzer Festspiele. Visit the Martin’s Tower, originally going back to Roman times, the Sacred Heart Church, the Kunsthaus Bregenz and the Vorarlberg Museum. Borders to Switzerland and Germany are close by.
