7 Days: Locarno and Surrounding area

Tour Overview:
Pick-up your E-Bikes, helmets and maps to cycle through the enchanting Maggia Valley. The valley of the Maggia river is dotted with small picturesque villages, vineyards and dairy farm. Unlike any other place Ticino tempers its classic Alpine looks with Italian good-living.

Day 1 – Arrival Switzerland

Arrive in Switzerland. Rail transfer to Locarno. Take the train from the airport terminal and with a short connection at Zurich main station, continue via central Switzerland to Locarno and the Hotel Belvedere where you are based for 6 nights. Set in its own grounds in a slightly elevated position your stay at the Belvedere will include three 4 cource dinners and 2 Days E-Bike hire. Overnight at Hotel Belvedere. Enjoy a 4 Course dinner at the hotel tonight. (D)

Day 2 – Day at Leisure

Breakfast at your hotel. The beautiful garden, sun terrace and hotel facilities invite you to a day of relaxation on your first day. Spectacular views of Lake Maggiore will accompany you throughout the day. Overnight at Hotel Belvedere. (B)

Day 3 – Cycle the Maggia Valley

Breakfast at your hotel. Pick up your E-Bikes, helmets and maps to cycle through the enchanting Maggia Valley. The valley of the Maggia river is dotted with small picturesque villages, vineyards and dairy farms. Past the waterfall of Monte Brolla and on to the town of Maggia. Overnight at Hotel Belvedere. (B)

Day 4 – Day at Leisure or Lago Maggiore Express

Breakfast at your hotel. Enjoy your hotel facilities and Locarno. Alternatively join a day excursion on the Lago Maggiore Express. Starting by boat across Lake Maggiore to the Italian town of Stresa and return through the Centovalli valley back to Locarno (supplement). Overnight at Hotel Belvedere including 3 course dinner. (B, D)

Day 5 – Cycle to Bellinzona

Breakfast at your hotel. Cycle by E-bike to the picturesque market town of Bellinzona. Explore the medieval town centre and visit at least one of the three castles surrounding the town. Overnight at Hotel Belvedere. Dinner in Hotel Belvedere’s own Grotto. (B, D)

Day 6 – Day at Leisure

Breakfast at your hotel. More time to enjoy your hotel’s facilities. For a half day excursion, we recommend visiting the neighbouring resort of Ascona and Brissago Islands or take the funicular from your hotel to the pretty chapel ‘Madonna del Sasso’ and enjoy a beautiful downhill walk through forests back to your hotel. Overnight at Hotel Belvedere.

Day 7 – Explore More & Departure

Breakfast at your hotel. Departure by rail transfer to airport or Swiss Border. (B)
