It is surrounded by colonial beach resorts which are the perfect place to relax after a gorilla trek.

Volcanoes National Park

Situated in the far northwest of Rwanda, Volcanoes National Park is named after the chain of dormant volcanoes making up the Virunga Massif. Home of the endangered mountain gorillas and a rich mosaic of ecosystems and spanning an area of 160 square km, it has over 200 species of colourful birds and also inhabits the rare golden monkey.
