9 Days: SKORPIOS Kaweskar Route (PUERTO NATALES - GUILLARD - AMALIA - EL BRUJO GLACIERS CALVO FJORD - FJORD OF THE MOUNTAINS - PUERTO NATALES) & Torres del Paine

Tour overview:

The Kaweskar Route, carried out by the M/V Skorpios III in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, is a 5-day, 4-night cruise that sails from October to April each year, from the city of Puerto Natales, 2,500 kilometers south of Santiago. This city can be reached directly by air and from Punta Arenas, or by land from Argentina. This 505-mile sailing adventure is a deep immersion in a virgin natural environment, still untouched by human activity, which you will be able to discover as you plow through the tangled channels and fjords of the Magallanes region to the Glaciers of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, an area that has 48 glacier basins. It will be an unparalleled experience that will captivate and motivate those who like to experience explorations to unique virgin places to see, feel, and contemplate these ancient landscapes.

Day 1 - ARRIVE PUERTO NATALES - SKORPIOS TERMINAL

On arrival in Puerto Natales you will be met and transferred to Skorpios Terminal for pre-night accommodation at cruise.

Day 2 - SKORPIOS KAWESKAR ROUTE.

Midday (12:00 hrs) departure from Skorpios terminal. There will be a brief explanation about safety on the ship, and the place to meet will be indicated. 2:00 pm. Lunch. We continue sailing through the Almirante Montt Gulf. 4:30 pm. We arrive at Caleta Juárez in the Guardramiro Fjord. Disembark on boats to see a colony of elephant seals. 6:00 pm. We cross the Angostura Kirke, Morla Vicuña, Unión, Collingwood and Sarmiento channels.

Day 3 - SKORPIOS KAWESKAR ROUTE..

6:00 am. We sail north through Pitt Channel, Chatam Island to port. 8:45 am. We enter the Guillard Fjord, navigating along the interior of the fjord to the Guillard Glacier. Disembark at the Glacier and tour the site according to weather and tide conditions. 11:30 am. Sail heading south. 1:00 pm. Lunch. 4:00 pm. Arrival at the Amalia Glacier and boat trips around the bay of this wonderful place. If conditions allow us, we will disembark, as this glacier which is in constant movement and has modified its beach and surroundings. 8:30 pm. Dinner on board.

Day 4 - SKORPIOS KAWESKAR ROUTE...

8:00 am. Arrival at El Brujo Glacier. 9:15 am. Depending on the weather conditions and ice, we can descend to admire this Glacier from a nearby rock. 11:30 am. We sail to the spectacular Calvo Fjord. 1:00 pm. Lunch time. 4:00 pm. Tour to Fjord Calvo, where an excursion is made on a boat suitable for sailing through the ice, called Captain Constantino, visiting the Fernando, Captain Constantino and Alipio glaciers, among others. 8:00 pm. We sail to the Mountains Fjord.

Day 5 - SKORPIOS KAWESKAR ROUTE....

 8:00 am. Visit to the Mountains Fjord, where you can observe four glaciers that descend from the Sarmiento Mountain Range to the sea, and Skorpios was the pioneer cruise to visit two of them. 9:00 am. Visit to the Alsina Glacier, disembarking on explorationtype boats to discover this small bay and appreciate the beauty of this glacier and the enormous mountains that surround it. 10:30 am. Return to the ship, we continue sailing through the Mountains Fjord towards the Bernal Glacier. 11:00 am. Disembarkation at the Bernal Glacier. The walk begins through a small native forest and along a path that crosses a small glacial water lagoon. We continued the walk along the frontal and lateral “morrena” (type of rock crushed by the glacier), until we reached the front of the Glacier. From here we will have the opportunity to touch some ice and observe the retreat phase of a glacier that no longer reaches the sea. 12:45 pm. Return to the boat, which is refueling to provide pure and natural water from a waterfall. This water is consumed on board by all the boat's services. 1:30 pm. Lunch time. 2:00 pm. Sailing through the Mountains Fjord where we can see the Herman and Zamudio glaciers. 5:00 pm. We begin crossing the Angostura White. 8:30 pm. Farewell party, Captain's dinner and dance. Navigation through the Almirante Montt Gulf.

Day 6 - SKORPIOS KAWESKAR ROUTE - DiISEMBARK / TORRES DEL PAINE

Between 2:00 and 7:00 am. Arrival in Puerto Natales. 8:00 am. Breakfast and 9:30 am. Start of passenger disembarkation. Then you will be transferred to Puerto Natale’s airport.
