Tour Overview:
Explore remote Alpine valleys and scale mountain slopes by railway on this unforgettable tour of Switzerland. Here you’ll gain an insight into local life and time-honoured traditions, while enjoying some of Europe’s most sublime scenery and peaceful towns and cities.

Day 1 - Zurich - St Gallen - Vaduz - Chur
Meet the group this morning at one of the most impressive cities in the world, Zurich - but not for too long, as we travel to Schaffhauser Blauburgunderland for a private tour and wine tasting (a sample of the activities to follow in the next few days). Our road carries onwards to St Gallen, Vaduz and eventually arriving in Chur where we feast on a welcome dinner together. (D)

Day 2 - Chur
After a hearty breakfast, we launch into a walking tour of Chur, and then the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace in one of Switzerland's oldest cities. (B)

Day 3 - Chur - Lucerne - Weggis
A day of indulgence awaits in Lucerne, where we have an appointment to keep with a local chocolatier where it’s time to uncover the secrets of Swiss chocolate making, learning its origins and indulging in a sample or two. Later we swap our mini-coach for a scenic boat ride across Lake Lucerne, setting ashore in Weggis, our base for two nights. (B,D)

Accommodation: (Hotel Beau Rivage)

Day 4 Weggis - Einsiedeln - Mount Rigi - Weggis
After breakfast, prepare for round two in the form of a cheese fondue tasting at a local farm in Einsiedeln before carrying onwards to climb Mount Rigi aboard the cog railway - Europe’s first ever mountain line. Then it’s back down to Weggis, where you’ll have the evening to yourself. (B,L)

Accommodation: (Hotel Beau Rivage)

Day 5 Weggis - Eggiwil - Bern
Saying farewell to Weggis, we travel to Eggiwil to meet a local alphorn maker to share the secrets to craft the traditional instrument before we reach Bern. With time for a guided walking tour and beer tasting, soak up the picture-perfect scenery. (B,D)

Accommodation: (Hotel Bristol)

Day 6 Bern
Safe to say, Bern will not disappoint. With a free day to explore, be sure to wander the cobbled centre and visit the excellent museums. Soak up the tranquil ambience as we walk the perfectly preserved medieval streets of its UNESCO protected Old Town. Hear tales from the city’s 800-year history as we explore the Gothic cathedral, Clock Tower and see the 13th century gate. (B)

Accommodation: (Hotel Bristol)

Day 7 Bern - Thun - Interlaken - Murren
With our path taking us away from Bern, today we travel to visit the Thun Castle and continue to the Trummelbach Falls - a magnificent cave-like environment surrounded by a series of waterfalls. After splashing through the waterfalls, we will reach new heights onboard a cable car ride to Murren where we rest for the next two nights. (B)

Day 8 Murren - Schilthorn - Murren
Our Swiss adventure wouldn’t be complete without the awe-inspiring views from above. Prepare your eyes today for some of the most intoxicatingly beautiful views at the top of Schilthorn Mountain.
