This is our classic tour, where you can experience the most known attractions alongside getting an insight into the history and geography of Iceland. On this tour your will see countless waterfalls, fishing villages, birdlife paradise Myvatn, Europe's largest glacier, glacier lagoons, museums, salmon rivers, geothermal sites with hotsprings and last but not least Gullfoss and Geysir.

Day 1: Arrival at Keflavik Airport
Arrival transfer from Keflavik airport to Centerhotel Plaza. Centerhotel Plaza is located right in the heart of Reykjavik city centre making it an excellent base for you to explore the capitals compact centre on your own.

Day 2: Reykjavik - Borgarnes - Skagafjordur - Akureyri (BD)
Our guide meets the group at Hotel Plaza at 8:45 am. We drive northwards via the tunnel of Hvalfjordur to Borgarnes and Skagafjordur, the valley of horses. A visit to the folk museum of Glaumbær (entrance included), an ancient farm with a turf roof, before continuing via highlands, oxnadalsheidi, to the capital of the north of Iceland, Akureyri.
Overnight and dinner at Hotel KEA, Akureyri, or similar.

Day 3: Akureyri - Godafoss - Myvatn - Akureyri (BD)
We stop by the waterfall of Godafoss on our way to Myvatn. The area around Myvatn consists of fields of lava, volcanoes and mountains. Here you can observe interesting lava formations at Dimmuborgir, pseudocraters and underwater caves, filled with geothermal water at Grjotagja and when visiting Namaskard we will see hissing steam plumes and boiling sulfur- and mudholes. We stop by Jardbodin, the Blue Lagoon of the North. Overnight and dinner at Hotel KEA, Akureyri, or similar.

Optional Tours:
June - mid August: Evening-whalewatching is available from Akureyri. Please note that in May and from mid August, evening-whalewatching is not an option in Akureyri as it gets dark too early in the night. For those interested, whalewatching is possible from Reykjavik, on your own schedule, on Day 7 upon arrival at the hotel.

Day 4: Akureyri - Dettifoss - Modrudalsoræfi - Egilsstadir - Breiddalsvik (BD)
We leave Akureyri and start the day by visiting Dettifoss, one of Europe's biggest waterfalls. After that we drive across highlands Modrudalsoræfi, via town of Egilsstadir, towards the sparsely populated and very beautiful Eastfjords, with its small fishing villages and magnificent mountains. Overnight and dinner at Hotel Blafell, Breiddalsvik, or similar.

Day 5: Breiddalsvik - Jokulsarlon - Skaftafell - Nupar (BD)
Driving along the Eastfjords dramtic coastline, passing Djupivogur and Hofn. Not far from Hofn is glacierlagoon Jokulsarlon where you can take a boattrip on an amphibian inbetween the floating icebergs. Boat tour is not included but can be booked via the agency.

The bustrip continues further on to Nationalpark Skaftafell, a beautiful, green oasis at the root of glacier oræfajokull, where Iceland's highest point can be found (Hvannadalshnukur, 2119 m). Overnight and dinner at Hotel Nupar or similar.

Day 6: Nupar - Vik - Reynisfjara - Skogar - Selfoss (BD)
We start the day by driving past lavafields of Eldhraun and observing the black glacial deposits at Myrdalssandur. We pass by Vik and stop by the black lavasand beach of Reynisfjara, known for its colony of puffins and unusual rock formations. From Reynisfjara you can view the impressing promontory Dyrholaey, where the sea has craved a huge hole through the rock. Next, we stop at the two waterfalls, Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss, and visit Eyjafjallajokull Visitor Center, where a film about the eruption in 2010 in screened. Entrance is included. Thereafter we continue towards Selfoss, via Hvolsvollur and Hella. Overnight and dinner at Hotel Selfoss or similar.

Day 7: Gullfoss - Geysir - Þingvellir - Reykjavik (B)
First visit of the day is to the majestic Gullfoss, one of Iceland's most beautiful waterfalls. Next stop is at the geothermal area around Geysir, where we experience the active geyser Strokkur that erupts a high column of boiling hot water, every five minutes. It truly is a fascinating phenomena. Continuing to the national park of Þingvellir, where the oldest parlament still in function was founded. From Þingvellir we drive on to Reykjavik. On our way to the hotel we stop at Perlan, where we enjoy panoramic view of the city and its environment. Overnight at Hotel Plaza in Reykjavik, or similar. Dinner is not included.

Day 8: Reykjavik - Departure (B)
Breakfast in hotel. The transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
